Grappling Madness – Who’s the new European King?

The night kicked off with the European Grappling Championship Four-Man Elimination Tournament, and it didn’t disappoint. Four men, four styles, but only one ultimate winner!

  • Semi Final 1: Alec Grech (Judo) ground out a gritty points win over Alexey Matveev (Kudo) in a technical chess match. No submissions happened in the opening round, but in the shoot-out round, Grech was able to score with a reverse takedown in the dying seconds.
  • Semi Final 2: Lucas Sidhu (BJJ) showed why the jiu-jitsu game is king, taking the fight to the ground and submitting Domenico Nicosia (MMA) in slick fashion.
  • The Final: Grech’s judo throws vs. Sidhu’s BJJ submissions. The two old rivals met once again in a grueling battle, and like their first bout at Rage Kombat: Rebellion, it was Sidhu that reigned supreme. The Belgian fighter was able to score a takedown in literally the last second of the shoot-out round, earning him the Rage European Grappling Title.
  • In a hard-fought super match, Jonathan Cardona (Colombia) outpointed Malta’s Dejan Briffa in a crowd-pleaser. Cardona demonstrated his strength throughout with powerful body-slams.
